Rev. Carlos Boerger, M.Div.

Board Chairman

carlosb@stpaulsa.org

Charles (known as Carlos by most people) Boerger grew up on a farm outside of Wharton, Texas.  He and wife, Sharon (from Bishop, Texas) were married in 1972 and have been blessed in many ways, including four children and seven grandchildren… and a large spiritual family in many places!

Carlos did his undergraduate work at Texas A&M University and Concordia Senior College. He received his M. Div. from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana, in the “Hispanic Ministry Program”.  In 1977, out of the seminary, Carlos and Sharon came to San Antonio, called by the Texas District of the LCMS to serve as Missionary-at-large, working with St. Paul Lutheran Church in reaching out to the large Hispanic population surrounding them in the inner city. In 1983 he accepted the role of lead pastor there, continuing St. Paul’s intentional transition into a bilingual, multicultural congregation. Since 2017 he has continued serving there, now as half-time assoc. pastor, under Pastor Dave Murillo.

From 1993 to 2016, Carlos was blessed with the opportunity to intentionally disciple (under the Lord’s enablement) high school & college students and adults from St. Paul and many other places through over 40 short-term mission trips working with missions in various parts of Mexico and, later, along the Texas/Mexico border.

Since 2006, Carlos has been involved with other San Antonio area church leaders in the development of LINC San Antonio, recognizing the need to work together to serve the expansion of God’s Kingdom among the diverse population in our urban area. It continues to be an exciting journey to be involved in things only the Lord can accomplish by his grace!
